Eat your heart out Alexa Chung, Suki is in town. Branded as fashion’s new ‘it’ girl, Suki Waterhouse has usurped Chung’s status as Britain’s style emblem this season. Model, photographer, singer and actor, this covetable chick has strutted into the limelight this year. Scouted at the tender age of 16, Waterhouse has since become renowned for her Brigitte Bardot traits: an oval shaped facial structure, thick pink lips and an eye liner flick Twiggy would be proud of. Modelling in the early days for various designers including Pepe Jeans and Swatch, Suki has since graced the covers of magazines including VOGUE Japan and this month’s ELLE.
French Connection Spring/Summer 2013 “White Lies” Collection featuring British model Suki Waterhouse.
Currently dating Hangover heart-throb Bradley Cooper, Suki is no stranger to aesthetically-pleasing males. After breaking up in 2011 with The Kooks front man, curly-haired, skinny jean, ostensibly ‘indie’ Luke Pritchard, Suki opted for a Mr Miles Kane. A Liverpudlian who channels a certain Beatles-esque quality with his prominent bowl-cut, Miles’ on-stage attire includes suit after suit after suit (and the occasional leather jacket). Whilst the ex-band-boyfriend list grows forever longer, Suki is frequently pictured with best friend since netball class aged 11, gap-toothed Georgia Jagger and bushy-browed-beauty, supermodel Cara Delevigne so it is safe to say Waterhouse is certainly remaining within the celebrity status and un-doubtfully in fashions best dressed list.
Suki’s sartorial statements translate a tone akin to her 60s signature facial characteristics. Influenced by various icons throughout the era, Suki’s modette inspired mode has developed a new trend for the fashion look books. With her love for playing dress-up, the model tends to mix, match and mash a variety of ensembles. Her eminent NME awards 2012 outfit saw her sporting a baby pink tailored blazer and matching shorts, white tights and patent white Chelsea boots. Her ‘Global Fashion Awards 2012’ outfit, on the other hand, showcased a gothic leather meets lace mini dress with an attached veil-type sheer skirt underneath a PVC cropped leather jacket. Her capability to remain fashionable yet add her own tantalising twist has landed her a fashion status favourable within the ‘quirky girl’ clique (others including: Paloma Faith and Florence Welsh.)
Rarely spotted without an accessory from her ambry which ranges from round John Lennon sunglasses to vintage Chanel purses to a corduroy paper-boy hat covering a dirty blonde full fringe, Suki’s day time looks are easy to achieve with a little jumble of your wardrobe.
