After an hour of trying on dog collars in a sex shop in order to get my fashion fix, I knew I had gone mad.
£23.95 later and I had purchased a black soft leather spiked collar with steel buckle fastening for a comfortable, tailored fit. The truth was, the spikes were a bit much (even for me) but I needed a statement piece of jewellery for that night and my skull rings weren’t doing enough for me.
So there I was, in a club, wearing a necklace from the bondage section in Harmony welcoming compliments on my raunchy purchase.
Since then, I have purchased a day-wear choker. £4.00 from prettylittlething, the plain black silk band is a lot more practical for daylight.
Unapologetically sexy, the choker necklace doesn’t look like its going out of fashion any time soon. For fashion beginners, stretch plastic chokers’ are still abundant. For fashion whores the choker game is only just getting started.
Seen on Puma by Rihanna AW16 and Alexander Wang AW16, this trend is here to stay. From chokers resembling belts to slinky velvet neck-wear, what takes your fancy?
