A strong contender every winter, the resurgence of velvet was inevitable. The luxe fabric was seen all over the Fall 2016 catwalks at the beginning of this year, from oversized tailoring at Stella McCartney to opulent designs at Zuhair Murad.
This year, however, we saw a sartorial transformation. No longer mirroring the Wednesday Adams vibes we were becoming all too aware of, velvet arrived in a vibrant array of hues from sherbet lemon to emerald green. From trouser suits to embellished dresses, knee high to pointed boots, the material was undoubtedly the most talked about at fashion week.
Throughout the past few months our favourite high street shops have been stocking up on the must-have trend ready for next season. But as fashion influencers already know – you can never be too early when it comes to trend-setting.
