Polka dot is my favourite print – next to stripes, obviously. It’s a timeless print which can be worn again and again no matter what time of the year and what ever time of the day. You can dress it up or down and make it work with most outfits.

I often find myself going for the Alexa Chung polka-dot vibes, understated but cool. However, when I saw this polka dot sheer top on Nasty Gal I was thinking a lot more Kimmy K.

OK, honestly I wouldn’t touch Kimmy K’s wardrobe with a barge pole but recently I’ve found myself wanting to dress up a lot more than usual. Don’t get me wrong, I love to dress up but it’s pretty rare for me to ever go for the ‘sexy’ look. Anything tight or see-through, I’d usually run a mile but when I saw this top I knew I had to have it. It was the perfect mixture of sexy and cool and I knew exactly how I wanted to style it.

Sheer is a bit like marmite, you either love it or hate it. It’s understandable to hate it, I mean – it’s see through, what benefits does it have other than tits? But I for one love it because there’s so many ways of styling it.

I chose to wear a black triangle bra to make the outfit a little more casual. If I’m wearing a statement piece I’ll always find a way to tone it down so I pieced this top with my favourite oversized jeans to feel a bit more me – and comfier too.  I chose a black beret and a red lip as my accessories to give my outfit a little bit of edge.

I felt incredibly sexy wearing this but still within my comfort zone, any leg and I think I would have felt out of my depth. It’s the perfect piece if you’re big on polka-dots and fancy a change from the typical polkadot indie-vibes.
